Sceptre Gold II Water Colour Brushes Sceptre Gold II is a range of high quality brushes made from a mix of sable and synthetic fibres. They are ideal for working with water colour and fluid oil colour but are also suitable for use with acrylic, water mixable oil and Griffin alkyd fast drying oil colour. Made from a blend of pure sable and synthetic fibres gives you a performance that is close to sable, at a price that is close to synthetic. Sable hair has excellent spring whilst the high quality synthetic filaments ensure that the brushes are soft enough to work the colour but also have a strong snap so they return back to their original shape with ease. Brights: Length and width of brush is generally squared. Similar to flats, but shorter hairs make a stiffer brush. Fans: Brush fibers are spread out making it useful for subtle blending and for textural effects. Lettering/Liners: Similar to rounds, but with longer hairs. Liners have a large color carrying capacity and makes long, fluid strokes. Rounds: Smaller sizes are typically used for detail work and larger sizes tend to be used for washes and filling in color. Strokes: Strokes have long, rectangular ends, a large color carrying capacity and create long, fluid strokes. Washes: A wide, flat brush used primarily to lay-in large amounts of color, to wet paper, or for blending.
